Aged Resident Dies at Garner
Garner, IA -- Funeral services for Mrs. William Shaver, 86, will be held at the Bohn funeral home in Garner Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. S. W. Cunningham, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Interment will be in the Concord cemetery. Mrs. Shaver died Monday at her home here Monday afternoon.
Anna Sowles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Sowles, was born in Illinois in 1863 [1864]. In 1883 she was married to William Shaver and the couple lived in Illinois for a time, later going to South Dakota where they staked a homestead claim in 1892. They later returned to Illinois and came to Belmond in 1904. In 1911 the couple moved to Garner where they resided since.
Surviving are: Daughters: Mrs. Pearl Chilcote, Garner; Mrs. Isadora Peterson, Garner; Mrs. Inez McCormick, Garner; Mrs. Mildred Trabilcock of Mason City; Mrs. Hazel Ihde, Welton, Minn.; Mrs. Essie V. Cook, Stockton, Cal. Sons: Anthony Shaver of Redding, Cal.; and LeRoy Shaver, McCloud, Cal. Her husband and one son, Glenn, preceded her in death. One sister, Mrs. Frank Schmidt of Portland, Ill., and numerous grand and great grandchildren survive.
