Funeral services for Michial F. Besaw, Sr., 52, Livermore, were held Wednesday, March 19, at the Mason - Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt, with burial in the Union Cemetery, Livermore. He died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt. The Mason - Lindhart Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements, with the Rev. Ed Kail officiating. Casket bearers were Al Belt, Greg Helle, Ron Smith, Mel Smith, Brian McCullough, Kenny Hauck, Tony Carlisle, and David Besaw.

Survivors include his wife, Diane of Livermore; mother, Helen Newbrough of Humboldt; sons, Terry Besaw of Texas; and Patrick Besaw and Michial Besaw, Jr. both of Kansas; stepson, Darren Hansen of Washington; stepdaughter, Amber Hansen of Livermore; brother, Pat Besaw of Dakota City; half-brothers, Richard Newbrough of Montour, Dave Newbrough of Sioux City, and Bob Newbrough of New Haven; and half-sisters, Kathleen Eck of Dakota City and Jacqueline Oppermen of South Lyon, MI. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Besaw; stepfather, Donald Newbrough; and a daughter, Erin.

Michial Fredrick Besaw, son of Earl and Helen (Loeschen) Besaw, was born April 4, 1950, at Estherville. At the age of five, he moved with his family to Humboldt. He attended school in Humboldt, graduating from Humboldt High School in 1968. Following his education, he did some traveling and served in the Job Corps, building fire roads in Montana. He worked for many years as a truck driver for various companies, including Umthun and Dolly Madison. Recently, he has worked as a welder at Stronghold Manufacturing in Clarion and Hawkeye Leisure Trailers in Humboldt. On May 5, 2000, he was united in marriage to Diane Smith, and the couple has made their home in Livermore. He was a member of ABATE, where he has served as an officer at the state level.
