Funeral services for Katherine E. Bair, 89, Humboldt, were held Friday, Nov. 30, at the Faith United Methodist Church in Rutland, with burial in the Union Cemetery, Humboldt. She died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at the Humboldt Care Center North in Humboldt. The Mason - Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of the arrangements, with the Rev. Ed Kail officiating. Casket bearers were Lloyd Goodell, Kenneth Hood, Eldon Skow, Matt Letts, Dwight Letts, and Darald Letts.

Survivors include her husband, Laurence of Humboldt; three granddaughters; nine great grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Ramona and Barbara; four brothers; and four sisters.

Katherine Elizabeth Porter, daughter of Peter and Katie Porter, was born Feb. 17, 1912, at Rutland, where she was raised. In 1928 she was united in marriage to Laurence Bair in Humboldt. Throughout their married lives, the couple made their home in the communities of Rutland, Gilmore City, Dakota City, Humboldt, and Fort Dodge. During their retirement, they made their home in Thor. In 1995 she became a resident of the Humboldt Care Center North in Humboldt. Her husband joined her there the following year. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church of Rutland.
