Funeral services for Alphonse A. Koob, 78, were held Saturday, Dec 22, at 2:30 p.m. at the Bogaart funeral home in Humboldt, with the Rev. Lloyd Meyer of Eagle Grove officiating. Pallbearers were Walter Schutze, Russell Beeson, John Sarsgaard, Jack Scott, Ron Schulze and Emil Kirchhoff. Music was furnished by Rev. and Mrs. Lloyd Meyer of Eagle Grove. Flowers were arranged by Mrs Russell Beeson and Mrs Marie Philips of Dakota City. Interment was in Union cemetery at Humboldt.

Alphonse A. Koob, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Koob, was born Jan. 31, 1887, at Springbrook, Jackson County, Iowa, and passed away at his home in Dakota City Wednesday, Dec. 19, 1956, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 19 days. At a very early age he moved with his family to Rutland and then later to Dakota City where he made his home the rest of his life. He attended school at the "Red Brick School" at Dakota City. He was united in marriage to Miss Edna M. Locke of Dakota City Dec. 21, 1910, at the Methodist parsonage in Humboldt with the Rev. Tomkins officiating at the ceremony. To this union two children were born (Helen) Mrs. Edward F. Ernst of Houston, Texas, and Edward Koob of Oskaloosa. They made their home in Dakota City where Mr. Koob was in the contracting business with his brother, John Koob. In later years he was employed by E. L. Hersom of Laurens with whom he was employed at the time of his death. Besides his wife and two children, he is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Harry Locke of Dakota City, Mrs. Albert Kirchhoff of Thor, John Koob and Chas. Koob of Dakota City, also six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister. Relatives from out of town who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Edward Locke of Storm Lake, Mrs. Craig Locke of Tucson, Ariz., Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nelson of Fort Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Merl Locke of Vincent, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kirchhoff of Thor.
