Otto H. Johnson was born March 11, 1884 on a farm four miles northeast of Thor in Humboldt County, Iowa. He was the youngest of six children, one daughter and five sons born to Hans and Elina Johnson. When he was in grade school, he moved with his parents to Eagle Grove, and it was there that he graduated from grade and high school. After completing high school, Otto worked in the telephone office at Eagle Grove for a number of years after which he accepted a position in the bank a Livermore under his uncle Chris Korslund, who served as its president.

He was united in marriage to Ella Winkle of Livermore Oct. 9, 1915, and they lived in Livermore in the thirties, they moved to Humboldt, and from Jan. 1, 1935 to December 1944, Otto served as county Auditor of Humboldt County. He resigned this office to accept the position of bookkeeper for the R.E.A. In November, 1945, his wife died. After her death, he lived alone for nearly two years until sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. George Olson, moved to Humboldt to make a home, for him. Monday, June 25, Otto became ill and was taken to the Lutheran hospital at Fort Dodge, and Saturday morning, June 30, he passed away at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 19 days.

He was also a member of Eastern Star Lodge No. 195 A.F. & A.M. He was a Royal Arch Mason, and was also a member of Calvary Commandery Knight's Templar at Fort Dodge. Abu Beka Shrine at Sioux City and the Shrine Club of Humboldt He was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Otto was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers. He is survived by one sister, (Gina) Mrs George Olson of Humboldt; and one brother, Oscar Johnson of Des Moines. Services were conducted for him the Congregational church in Humboldt Tuesday, July 3, at 2 p.m. by his pastor, the Rev. Robert J. Watson. Mrs. Phayne Heathman sang two numbers, "In The Garden", and "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied by the organist, Anleas Little. Mrs. Don Oxborrow, Mrs. George McCollough, and Mrs. Sarah Coddington were in charge of the flowers. Mr. Brockman and Irwin Opheim served as ushers at the church. Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside by acting worshipful master, Herbert Haney. Interment was in the Union cemetery at Livermore.
