David Michael Egland, 59, died on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at Clarion Care Center. A memorial service will be a 2 p.m., on Wednesday, March 4, at Salem Lutheran Church, Roland. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

David was born on June 2, 1955, in Ames, to Glen and June (Michaelson) Egland. He graduated from Roland-Story High School in 1973. His occupation was working as a truck driver. He lived in the Roland and Jewell area most of his life. He participated in 4-H, track and bowling in high school. His pastimes were men’s softball, bowling and classic cars, and he liked to tinker with things. His eyes lit up when his grandchildren came to visit him. He loved his family very much.

David is survived by his father, Glen Egland; three sons, Josh (Rebecca) Egland, of Clarion, Chris (Megan) Egland, of Council Buffs, and Brian Egland, of Des Moines, seven grandchildren; two brothers, Arlin Egland, of Ames, and Randy Egland of Ames; two sisters, Kathy (Charlie) Bailey, of Ames, and Julie (Rick) Wagner, of Kamrar. He is preceded in death by his mother, June Egland; and and infant sister, Julianna Egland. Soderstrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
