DOUDS, Iowa — James D. Laughlin, 75, of rural Douds, died Feb. 26, 2015, at home. He was born July 2, 1939, in Ottumwa to David and Mary Hootman Laughlin. Jim grew up in the Douds community and graduated from Douds High School with the class of 1957. He attended University of Iowa and became an independent Good-Year distributor with stores in Eagle Grove, Rockwell City and Webster City. He later served many years as Van Buren County Sanitarian.

Surviving are a son, Jeffrey Laughlin (Kelley) of Eldon; a daughter, Kelly Wolfkuhl in Kansas; three stepdaughters, Dawn, Dynette and Deanna; two sisters, Norma Jane Witt (Robert) of Douds and Julie WIlliams (Junior) of Beaufort, North Carolina; other relatives and many friends. His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds; Rev. Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery north of Douds. Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with family present 5-7 p.m. Memorials to American Lung Assn. or Douds Field Day may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at P.O.
