WAPELLO, Iowa — Roger Lee Schnell, 75, of Wapello, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at his home. He will be cremated. A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of New Choices of Louisa County. The son of Alexander Sander and Lillian Williams Schnell, he was born on Aug. 14, 1939, in Goldfield, Iowa. He graduated from Goldfield High School. Roger married Karen Bjornson on Sept. 21, 1958, in West Bend, Iowa. They later divorced. He was a poultry farmer and later when moving to Wapello, he did carpentry construction. Roger enjoyed fishing, trapping, playing golf and pool, and simply visiting-- farmer style.

His family includes two sons, Roger W. and Cheryl Schnell of Columbus Junction and Richard and Jen Schnell of Columbus Junction; a daughter, Carol and Telly Zuniga of West Branch; nine grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Reichter of Goldfield and Edna Stoll of Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark; and two sisters, Marge and Betty. The family will meet friends on Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello.
