Nola Gayle (Brandrup) Christensen, the daughter of Lester and Frances (Laposky) Brandrup, was born December 11, 1928, in Webster City, Iowa. She moved many times in her childhood including to Minnesota and South Dakota, graduating from high school in 1946. After high school, she moved to Eagle Grove and worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell until her marriage. On July 16, 1950, Nola was united in marriage with Verne C. Christensen at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and lived in the farm house Verne was born in until his death in 2006. They raised chickens and pigs and grew corn and soybeans.

Nola was a member of the United Methodist Church where she was active in teaching Sunday school for 3 year olds for many years and later the youth fellowship. She enjoyed getting together with her neighbor ladies for coffee. Verne and Nola played in a card group for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nola passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Parsons House in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 86 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verne and brother, Bill Brandrup. Survivors include her daughters, Candace McCormick (David) of Omaha, NE, Frances Kauffman (Tom) of Boxholm; son, John Christensen (Barb) of Chapel Hill, NC; 7 grandchildren, Katie Brooks (James), Kristin Miller (Kane), Melissa Mangels (Grant) John Kauffman, Holly Kauffman, Kelci Christensen and Tyler Christensen; 8 great grandchildren and sister, Alyce Pixler of Springville, CA.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2015, at United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Heather Dorr officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
