BLOOMING PRAIRIE, MN — Norman Swanson, 80, of Blooming Prairie died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at the Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield. He was born March 12, 1928 at home in Klemme, Iowa to Carl Edward and Martha Marie (Grieman) Swenson. He went to school in Ventura, Iowa and farmed with his father. On July 24, 1948 he married Pearl Joy Matoon in Britt, Iowa. They farmed in Iowa until 1960. They moved to the Hayfield area and farmed until 1990 when they moved to Blooming Prairie.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl, of Blooming Prairie; five sons: Randy Swanson of Hatfield, Craig Swanson of Verona, Wis., Kim Swanson of Canyon City, Texas, Jeff Swanson of Hayfield, Mike Swanson of Hayfield; twenty grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Marcele Lindquist of Naples, Fla.; two brothers, Ronald Swanson of Forest City, Iowa, Eugene Swanson of Jacksonville, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Martha Swanson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with the Rev. Karl Korbel officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. Friends may call at Worlein-Blooming Prairie Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. today and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
