July 28, 1861 --- August 4, 1932

Mrs. Henry Barton of Spencer, 74 years of age, died Thursday morning, August 4, at 5:45 o'clock at the home of her son, Robert Barton, 249 South Center street. Mrs. Barton had been ill for more than a year and had been bedfast since May 25. Thursday of last week she became unconscious and death came quietly Thursday morning. Her illness was caused by cancer of the liver.

Mrs. Barton was born in Lewis county, New York July 28, 1861. She was united in marriage in 1879. to Henry Barton. Mr. Barton was engaged in the bakery business and they made their home in Emmetsburg, Clear Lake and Pocahontas, Iowa prior to locating in Spencer, where they have resided for the past fourteen years. They made their home in Spencer on West Fifth street. For the past two years they have lived with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barton. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon, August 7, at two o'clock at the Cobb-Phelps Funeral chapel with the Rev. W. F. Hurst pastor of the Church of Christ, in charge. Burial will be made in Riverside cemetery.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, seven children, Robert Barton of Spencer, Mrs. Lettie Smith of Waterloo, Grover Barton of Sioux Rapids, Tracy Barton, Montevideo, Minnesota, Mrs. Pearl Fisher of Milford, Mrs. Orpha Neilson of Clarion, and Forrest Barton of St. Cloud, Minnesota, 80 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Nora Peters of Forest City, beside numerous friends.
