Mary Jane (Jensen) Johnson, passed away at the age of 92, on January 9, 2015, at the Waunakee Manor Nursing Home in Waunakee, Wis. Mary was born on October 10, 1923, in Belmond, Iowa to Mabel and Jens Jensen. She met Russell Johnson while working at Union Tank Car Co and they were united in marriage on August 9, 1944. They were married for 70 years. Most of her life, Mary lived in Algonquin, Ill. They moved to Waunakee, Wis in 2011. They had an especially close family as Mary's two sisters married Russell's two brothers. Mary belonged for many years to the Congregational Church in Algonquin, Ill. Mary had a love of reading and until her last few years she always had a book by her side. Her love of reading led to her working at the Algonquin Public Library.

She is survived by her husband, Russell; son, Kent (Sally); grandchildren, Cliff (Brooke) Johnson and Colby Johnson; great grandson, Carter Johnson; and sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Sid Johnson. She is also survived by her niece, Kay (Keith) Anderson; great nephews, Cory (Rachel) Olson, Matt Olson, Kevin Olson, Lucas Johnson, Benjamin Johnson and Michael Quinlan; great great nephew, Max Olson; and niece-in-law, Judi Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Gordon Johnson; sister-in-law, Roxanne (Jimmy) Thompson; niece, Nancy Quinlan; nephew, Gordon Johnson Jr.; and great nephews, Joshua Quinlan and Jamie Quinlan.

Mary had a great sense of humor and cared deeply about her family. Mary was a soft spoken person who could make everyone she met feel so very special. Her family and friends will treasure her memory forever. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. A special thank you to Peggy and the wonderful staff at the Waunakee Manor for caring so deeply about Mary.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015, at 11:00a.m. at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 5763 Highway Q, Waunakee, Wis in the chapel. There will be a private interment at Sunset Memorial Park in Minneapolis, Minn at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mended Hearts of Advocate Sherman Hospital and the Algonquin Public Library.
