Grace M. Hess was born on October 2, 1888 at Sheffield, Illinois, the daughter of William,and Elizabeth Kerr Hess. She was united in marriage to Charles Evans of Eagle Grove, Iowa; on June 22, 1909, at Shell Lake, Wisconsin. The couple returned to Eagle Grove to make their home and have lived here since that time. Mr. Evans was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. Mrs. Evans had been in ill health for many years and passed away at her home at 309 N.W. Second Street on Thursday, February 1 at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 4 days. Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband Charles and two sisters: Mrs. Nellie Zimmerman, Barron, Wisc.; and Mrs. Ethel Voorhies, Syracuse, N. Y. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 3 at 2 p. m. at the Kastler Babcock Funeral Home. Rev. Donald Forbes officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
