May 18, 1932 --- January 7, 2015

Rose M. Larson, age 82, of Lincoln [Nebraska] passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 1015 Lancaster Lane, Lincoln. Rev. Kimberlee Osborn will officiate. Interment will directly follow at Wyuka Cemetery, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln. There will be a private viewing for Rose’s family and her close friends at Wyuka Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 9:30 – 10:30.

Rose was born in Pomeroy, Iowa in 1932 to Art and Mary (Doyen) Merk; she was raised as part of a farming household, with three brothers, on a 240 acre farm in Manson, IA. Rose could always get her father’s B John Deere tractor started in the winter even when he couldn’t; she would take the spark plugs out and warm them up in the cattle tank. She attended Teacher’s College in Northern Iowa after graduating High School at Manson High; she taught school in Renwick, IA where she met her husband Merlyn. She was married to Merlyn Larson in 1954 in Pomeroy; together they raised five children – Ron, Randy, Mike, Michelle, and Rod. Rose is retired from the Lincoln Public School System and retail at Miller & Paine/Dillards. Rose’s childhood church was First Evangelical & Reformed Church – where she was baptized, married and confirmed; she is now a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church. She was an active member of Bridge Circles in Lincoln and greatly enjoyed being a part of her family and grandchildren’s lives.
