Myrlane L. Danker (Lanie) of Sun City West, Arizona passed away on December 29, 2014. Lanie was born on June 3, 1930 in Waseca, Minnesota to William H. and Alma (Middelsteadt) Sotebeer. She graduated from the Waseca schools where she was involved in dramatics and music. She graduated with the class of 1948. After graduation she attended Northwest Institute of Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota and received a degree in Laboratory Technology. After graduation she took a job in Ames, Iowa as a Laboratory Supervisor at Mary Greeley Hospital. While living in Ames, met Wayne Danker, a student at Iowa State College. They became engaged and were married on June 21, 1952 after Wayne had graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Together they started a large animal veterinary practice in Dows, Iowa. They were very involved in community activities, Lanie served on the Dows Library board, the Dows Swimming Pool Board and was very active in the North Iowa Girl Scout Council serving as council president for 3 years. She was very active with the children's school activities as her family was very important to her, and rarely missed any activities. All four of her children were born and raised in Dows.

Lanie earned her RN degree in nursing and for 11 years served as a public health nurse for Cerro Gordo County. She served as president of the Sun City West Nurses Club after moving to SCW. In 1979 when Wayne left general practice, and worked with the state vets office in north and northeast Iowa, Wayne and Lanie lived in Clear Lake Iowa. They became members of St. James Lutheran church in Mason City, Iowa and Lanie served on several boards of the church and sang in the chancel choir and performed many solos. She became a member of the PEO and sang in several small groups in Clear Lake, Iowa. After retirement in 1993, Wayne and Lanie moved to Sun City West, Arizona, and made many trips back to the Midwest to see family and friends. They also traveled to other parts of the country to visit their children and grandchildren and visited many foreign countries. In SCW Lanie was active with the PEO, Westernaires, Church Choirs, Commitee's with the Rec Centers, and many Bridge clubs.

Lanie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Wayne, four children, Tom (Betty) of Tucson, AZ, Steven (Julie) of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Joan (Nels) Jensen of Temecula, California, and Carol (John) Banks of Avon, Connecticut. Nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Miller, Garrett (Chantele), David (Danika), Ben and Patrick Danker, Kerri and Paul Jensen, Jessica and Meredith Banks, and two great grandchildren, Evelyn Danker and Ethan Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Orville and Russell Sotebeer. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and a friend to all.
