Daniel Leroy Rubendall
February 23, 1949 --- January 1, 2015

Grinnell, Iowa -- Daniel L. Rubendall, 65, of Grinnell, died Thursday, January 1, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A celebration of life service will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Grinnell Eagles Club. Memorials may be directed to the Daniel Rubendall Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Grinnell State Bank.

Dan was born on February 23, 1949, in Belmond, Iowa, to Ernest "Bud" and Mary Jean Sills Rubendall. He attended Grinnell High School and later received his GED. In 1969, Dan enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He operated Pagliai's Pizza, in various places for almost 15 years. After that he did construction and factory work, before retiring in 2012. Dan especially enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, fishing and reading. His greatest pride and joy was his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dan will be greatly missed.

Dan is survived by his mother, Jean Rubendall of Mesa, Arizona; his children; Steve (Teresa) Rubendall of Grinnell, Kimberley Bilotta of Marion, Ohio, Jamie Rubendall Yadoff of West Roxbury, Massachusetts, Ashley (Stan) Shawler of Grinnell and Lindsey Duncan, also of Grinnell; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his brother, Charlie Rubendall of Grinnell; his sisters, Valerie (Dick) Hughes of Mesa, and Sue (Rick) Ford of Grinnell; and his girlfriend, Judy Routier of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his father and one grandson, Jeremey Bilotta.
