Helen Marie Woolaver McNally, age 94, formerly of Pittsburg, Kan. died January 7, 2015 at Sunrise of Lenexa Assisted Living in Lenexa, Kan. She was born May 8, 1920 in Eagle Grove, Iowa the daughter of Charles J. and Anna Bick Woolaver. Helen spent her childhood years in the Fort Dodge and Webster City area of Iowa. At age 16 her family moved to Flint, Mich. where she graduated from Bendle High School in 1938. Helen completed Business College in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she then worked as a bookkeeper in the accounting department of King-Seeley Corporation.

While in Ann Arbor she met the love of her life, Paul McNally at a USO social event when he asked her to dance. They were united in marriage at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan on June 15, 1946, and then soon after they relocated to Pittsburg, Kan. Paul preceded her in death on December 13, 2004. Helen had been a resident of Pittsburg for 69 years. She had been a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg since 1946, had been a lifetime member of the Mt. Carmel Hospital Auxiliary in Pittsburg for 37 years and served as President from 1981-1982. She served many years on the Board of the Crawford County unit of the American Cancer Society and was co-chairman of that organization’s annual luncheon and card party for many years. Helen volunteered for more than 40 years for the American Red Cross as a host during the local blood drives.

Survivors include two daughters Ginny Linin and her husband Brent of Goodland, Kan., Kathy Schurman of Joplin, Mo. and one son John McNally and his wife Debbie of Lenexa, Kan., three grandchildren Kim Linin and her husband Rich Devlin of Winter Park, Colo., Brian Linin and his wife Janda of Goodland, Kan., Monica Fleming and her husband Mike of Leawood, Kan., five great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Mary Aubert of Overland Park, Kan. and many nieces and nephews. Her siblings Claude Woolaver, Frances Billings, Dorothy Curry and great granddaughter Brianna Linin, preceded her in death.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg with Father Rick Kotrba, as celebrant. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kan. The parish rosary will be recited at 2 p.m., Sunday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, by Father Michael Baldwin. The family will receive their friends after the rosary service at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
