Dr. Louis N. Cumming was born August 31, 1904 in Des Moines, Ia., to Louis N. and Elizabeth Allen Cumming. He spent his boyhood in Des Moines and attended the public schools there. He was associated for many years with optical companies in St. Paul, Minn., St. Louis, Mo., and Des Moines, Iowa, and with Dr. M. Buchanan at Waterloo. He then attended the Northern Illinois School of Optometry and graduated from there June 10th, 1943. In 1933 he opened his own practice in Eagle Grove. He was married to Arliss Cain Nov. 20, 1937. Two children were born to this union, Charles Morris, 6, and Douglas Alan, 3. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, Chamber of Commerce and Eagle Grove Country Club. He leaves besides his wife and sons, three sisters, Mrs. Jack D. Fink, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Frank Maas, Medford, Wash. Mrs. Naomi Broge, Detroit, Mich., and three brothers, Allen Cumming, St. Paul, Minn., Howard Cumming of Long Beach, and Morris Cumming of Tule Lake Calif.
