Arliss Greta Cain was born on February 15, 1913, to Charles and Edith Zeller Cain. She was raised in Bagley, Iowa. The family moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, in 1932. She attended Coe College before returning to Eagle Grove, where she married Louis Cumming. After her husband's death in 1946, she began a long career as secretary to the Superintendent and School Board of the Eagle Grove School District. She married John J. Henneberry, attorney at law. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, church groups and choir, and a local music club.

Arliss G. Henneberry died Tuesday, October 5, 1999, at the Fountain West Health Center in West Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 86. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Charles M. Cumming, and wife, Kathy, West Des Moines, Douglas Cumming, and wife, Nancy, Menomonie, Wis.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Eldred Trawver, Des Moines, Iowa; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Dr. Louis N. Cumming, who died in 1946; and by John J. Henneberry who died in 1986.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 9, 1999, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, with the Reverend William Ballard officiating. Burial was held in the Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
