Mary A. Orsland 74, of Story City, formerly of Thor, died July 18, 1996 at Story County Hospital in Nevada. Sevices will be held at 2PM Saturday at Ullensvang Lutheran Church, Thor, with the Revs Dale C. Jenson and Conrad Rolland officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Willim's Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Burial will be in East Ullensvang Cemetery, Thor. survivors include husband Raymond; children Jim, Ankeny, Marlene Bauman, Roland, and Janice Boboltz, Albert City; six grandchildren; brothers Elmer and Oscar Askeland, Fort Dodge; sisters Agnes Welch, North Glenn, Colo and Inez Edgerton, La Mesa Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother George, sisters Sarah Wooster and Helen Eaton.

Mary Alberta Askeland was born June 14, 1922, north of Thor, She attended school at Beaver Township. She married Raymond Orsland in 1944 at Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor. The couple farmed in Thor. In 1992 they moved to Story City. She was a member of the ALCU of her church and was a correspondent for local newspaper.
