January 16, 1898 --- October 26, 1977

Mrs. Edna Albertina Askeland, 79, died Tuesday at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove where she was a resident for the past 4 1/2 years. Services will be at 2pm Friday in the Thor Lutheran Church with burial in East Ullensvang Cemetery near Thor. Friends may call at Kastler-Bacock-Deyoung Funeral Home in Eagle Grove after 7pm Wednesday.

Mrs. Askeland is survived by two sons Elmer Askeland and Oscar Askeland, both of Fort Dodge; four daughters, Mrs. Ben Wooster, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Raymond Orsland, Thor, Mrs. Milton Welch, Denver, Colo; Mrs. Ed Edgerton, San Diego, Calif; 26 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren; Other survivors are two brothers Henry Askland, Millen, and Arthur Askland, Fort Dodge; two sisters Mrs. Ernest Edge and Mrs. Esther Lenning, both of Humboldt.

Edna Albertina Askland was born at DeKalb, Ill, and attended schools there. She moved to Humboldt and married Ed Askeland at Julesburg, Colo in 1918. The couple farmed in the Thor, Badger and Humboldt areas, moving to Thor in 1960 when he retired. Mr. Askeland died in 1976.
