June 17, 1918 --- September 25, 1987

Sarah Josephine Askeland was born on June 17, 1918 at Humboldt County, Iowa, the daughter of Elesius (Ed) and Edna Askeland. She attended rural schools south of Thor, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Franklin Wooster of Eagle Grove on May 21,1940, at Fort Dodge, Iowa. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove and continued to live in Eagle Grove after Ben had returned from the Army in 1945. She was very active in the Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the Women's Christian Society, and the Legion Auxiliary.

Sarah died on September 25, 1987 at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa following a lengthy illness at the age of 69 years, three months and eight days. She is survived by her husband; one son, Mark E. of Eagle Grove, two brothers, Elmer and Oscar Askeland, both of Fort Dodge; and three sisters - Mary (Mrs. Raymond) Orsland of Thor; Agnes (Mrs. Melton) Welch of Cedaredge, Colo.; and Inez (Mrs. Ed) Edgerton of LaMesa, Calif. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother George, and one sister Helen Eaton.

Funeral services were held on September 28, 1987 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, Iowa, with the Rev. Paul Schaedig officiating and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
