Mrs. Wm. Bray of near Albert Lea, Minn., a former resident of Wright County, well known to many in the community, was laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery [Dows, Iowa] here March 28. Mattie Bauge Bray was born Sept. 5, 1881 near Ames, in Story County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the London Lutheran church and Ladies Aid. She was united in marriage to Wm. H. Bray, Nov. 23, 1903, at Clarion, Iowa. Aided by the religious training in her home and by the church, she developed a strong moral character which broadened into fine human sympathy. She always had a warm heart for those less favored with worldly goods and she stood high in the esteem of her neighbors. She possessed a cheerful disposition and to know her was to love her. Her pleasant smile will be greatly missed by her countless friends. Being in ill health, she spent most of the past two years quietly at home. She was taken to St. Olaf hospital at Austin. All medical skill and careful nursing could do, was of no avail. After a short time at the hospital, Mrs. Bray passed peacefully away.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Wm. H. Bray, four sisters, Sophia Gilbertsen, Austin, Minn., Louvina, Mrs. Samuel Bergeson, and Olive, Mrs. O. B. Iverson of Ellsworth, Iowa, Jessie Bauge and 3 brothers, Gerald Bauge of Austin, Elwood Bauge of Dows and Delbert of Ames. Her parents and a sister, Mrs. Ina Herum and a brother, Nelson Bauge preceded her in death.
