May 6, 1878 --- December 28, 1944

Nelson Bauge was born May 6, 1878 near Huxley, Iowa, the 3rd child of Joseph Nilsson Bauge and Julia Halverson Bauge. He grew up on his parents' farms near Huxley, Estherville, and then Dows. In 1884, he moved with his parents to Estherville, Iowa, where he attended country school. He was confirmed at the age of 15 by Rev. H. Engh. In 1897, he moved with his parents to Dows, Iowa where he continued farming with his father. In 1913, he bought a farm near London, Minn. and since made that his home. The past 20 years, he has lived with his sister, Mattie and husband, W. H. Bray, where he had the best of care. He was of a quiet and sympathetic disposition and throughout his life he cultivated a fine character. The past five years, he has had heart trouble and spent his time quietly at home. On Dec. 25th, he was stricken and taken to the Austin Hospital where he passed away peacefully 5 days later.

He leaves 5 sisters and 3 brothers: Mrs. Sophia Gilbertsen, Mrs. Mattie Bray, Miss Jessie Bauge and Gerald Bauge of Austin, MN. Mrs. Louvina Bergeson, Mrs. Olive Iverson and Delbert Bauge of Ellsworth, Iowa, and Elwood Bauge of Dows, Iowa. His sister, Ina Herum passed away in 1933. He is also survived by 2 nieces and 12 nephews.
