The memorial service for Frances Helen Hicks will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rogue Valley Manor in Medford. Chaplain Don Hildebrand will officiate. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder, Colo.

Mrs. Hicks, 92, of Medford, died Feb. 20, 2003, at her home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain View Methodist Church Library Fund, 355 Ponca Place, Boulder, CO 80303. She was born Oct. 19, 1910, in Dows, Iowa, to Frank and Minnie (Lenz) Heuer. After graduating from Dows High School, she attended Iowa State Teachers' College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and taught in Iowa schools for five years. On Sept. 28, 1935, in Hampton, Iowa, she married William Llewellyn Hicks, and they made their first home in Des Moines, Iowa. They also lived in Chicago and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Eventually, the family moved to Boulder, Colo., where Mr. Hicks established a business and acquired 17 patents.

They lived there for 27 years and were active in service clubs and were instrumental in establishing the Mountain View Methodist Church in Boulder. They retired to Laguna Hills, Calif., in 1978. Mr. Hicks died in 1982, and Mrs. Hicks moved to the Rogue Valley in 1993 from Laguna Hills. Mrs. Hicks was a member of the United Methodist Women, Concerned Citizens for Peace, the Y.W.C.A., the United Church Women and the World Federalist Organization. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading and travel.

Survivors include two sons, Russell, Medford and Robert, Vancouver, Wash.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Beatrice; and a brother, Willard Heuer. Arrangements by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.
