FUNERAL SERVICES TUES. FOR EARLY SETTLER

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Congregational Church for W. H. Price, well known and highly esteemed resident of this community for the past 51 years. Rev. Pates conducted the services and burial was made in Morningside cemetery.

William Henry Price was born in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, February 20, 1857, and died at his home in Ree Heights [South Dakota] April 14, 1934. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Eagle Grove, Iowa where he grew to manhood. Here on March 12, 1879 he was united in marriage to Mary Bohanan. In the spring of 1883, he and his wife moved to Hand county, South Dakota where he had filed on a claim in Riverside township. A few years later they moved to Ree Heights township where he continued farming and stock raising until 1920, when the family moved to Ree Heights where he resided until his death. Mr. Price enjoyed working with stock and practiced some veterinary work. He was called for many miles to take care of sick animals and no matter how the weather or the state of his health, no one ever called him in vain. This combined with his friendly and jovial manner made him loved and respected by all who knew him.

On November 11, 1932, he suffered a paralytic stroke from which he never recovered, altho not confined to his bed until seven months ago. He was always cheerful and enjoyed the many friends that often called to see him. He has been a member of the Ree Heights Congregational church since April 1894. His wife preceded him in death in November of 1929. He leaves to mourn his death, one son Charles of Lake Benton, Minnesota, one daughter, Carrie of Ree Heights, and two brothers, George of Harrisburg, S.D. and John of Des Moines, Washington. The relatives from away who were here to attend the funeral were his son Charles and brother George.
