Robert L. Miedema, 61, Edgerton, [Minnesota] died Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Edgebrook Care Center after a ten-month battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Friday, May 5 at First Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton. Burial was held prior to the service for close family and friends at Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.

Robert Lee Miedema was born to Bert and Jessie (Wierenga) Miedema on Sept. 28, 1944 in Hospers, Iowa, where he was raised on the family farm and attended Christian grade school. After graduating from Floyd Valley High School in 1962, he attended Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. He later attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich. He married Sharlene Christians on Jan. 27, 1967 in Kanawha, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived in Hospers where Robert sold insurance. In 1977, the family moved to Edgerton where Robert became employed as a counselor at the New Life Treatment Center in Woodstock. He later started his own trucking business.

He became a resident of Edgebrook Care Center on Feb. 21, 2006. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton. He is survived by his three children, Julie Andersen, Tea, S.D.; Teresa (Merle) Zeinstra, Holland and Mike (Allison) Miedema, Minneapolis; six grandchildren; two brothers, Andrew (Joan) Miedema, Alton, Iowa and Nelvin (Sherol) Miedema, Hospers, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; his parents; one sister, Berdina Roos and two brothers, Edward and Henry Miedema.
