Marlys Heide, 89, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Webster City, died on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge, with Rev. Andrea Kraushaar officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date.

Marlys Jean Engstrom was born August 16, 1925 in Boone Township, the daughter of Alvin and K. Beatrice Campbell Engstrom. She graduated from Renwick High School and then from Iowa Teacher's College. Marlys was an elementary school teacher. On June 9, 1946 she married Robert Carl Heide in Renwick. She was a long time employee of Kmart in Fort Dodge.

Survivors include, daughters, Thea Oppedal of Des Moines, Nona Hubbard of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Bart Hawkins, Danielle Lossing and Dionne Butler; three great-grandchildren, Janessa, Taylor and Jordan; one great-great grandchild due in January; several nieces and nephews, sister, Kay Engstrom of Mason City; special friend Delbert Porter's family, Mary Porter of Phoenix, AZ, Ann (Ken) Stoner of Cedar Falls, IA, Billie Sue Hiracheta Brown of Phoenix, AZ and Hannelore Porter of Scottsdale, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, son, Curtis Heide; sister, Bev Green and special friend, Delbert Porter. Marlys was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge and the Eastern Star.
