Carolyn L. Hoelscher, 80, of Popejoy, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the Hansen Family Hospital, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Carolyn L. Hoelscher will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 11, 2014, at the Missionary Alliance Church, 501 3rd Street, Blairsburg, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, December 10th at the Linn’s Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Popejoy, Iowa. The Linn’s Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Carolyn Lorraine Hillman was born October 8, 1934, at Aurora, Iowa, the daughter of Bruce Forest Hillman and Lois Mattie [McDowall] Hillman. She attended country school and graduated from Stanley High School with the class of 1952. On March 14, 1954, Carolyn was united in marriage to Kenneth Frederick Hoelscher at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fairbank, Iowa. To this union seven children were born: Wayne, Jacqueline, Bruce, Deborah, Diane, Dawn, and Colleen. She worked as a waitress and cashier for several restaurants and truck stops over the years, including Boondocks USA. She also worked for McDonald Douglas Aircraft in the 60’s. She drove truck with her husband for a time. She even returned to Ellsworth College to complete her Business Administration Degree. She kept books for her husband Ken at Ken’s Phillip’s 66 in Ames, Hoelscher Oil Co., Popejoy, Iowa, and managed the Casey’s General Store in Dows, Iowa.

Carolyn Hoelscher is survived by her children: Jacqueline [Phillip] Shriner of Des Moines, Iowa, Bruce [Karen] Hoelscher of Iowa Falls, Deborah [Michael] Harvey of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Diane [Rocco) Husted of Alden, Iowa, son-in-law: Brad Schweiger of Williams, Iowa, and Colleen [Jon] Ross of Popejoy, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sisters: Lela Durdin of Trinity, Texas, Norma Pleis of Casa Grande, Arizona, Gail Jordon of Casa Grande, Arizona; two brothers: Leslie [Alma] Hillman of Winterport, Maine, and Clare [Mary] Hillman of Maynard, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents: Bruce and Lois Hillman; her husband: Kenneth Hoelscher; two children: Wayne Allen Hoelscher and Dawn Schwieger; a sister: Arlene Larson; and three brothers: Ralph Hillman, Ramon Hillman, and Kenneth Hillman.
