Chloe Jane Haviland was born in Aurora, Ill., January 18, 1847 and moved with her parents to St. Charles, Ill., where she spent her girlhood days and was married to Nathaniel Connor on Dec. 31, 1864. They moved to Wright County, Iowa, in 1865 on a farm in Troy township. Here their six children were born all of whom are living except one son who died at the age of 12 years. The living are Fred who lived with his parents in Eagle Grove, Alice Floyd of Kennebec, S.D., George who lives on the farm near Eagle Grove, Lydia Morgan of New Richmond, Wis., Hubert of Parent, Canada. All the children were at her bedside when the end came except Hubert. She is survived also by 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, one sister, Alice Quackenbush, of Blanchard, Okla., and one brother, Arthur Haviland, of Comanche, Okla.
Mrs. Connor had been in poor health for the past two years. Her last illness was for only one week when on last Monday morning at 7:15, Feb. 11, this loving wife, ideal mother, good neighbor and kind friend finished her earthly course leaving a place in the home and hearts of her loved ones that no one else can fill. Her stay on earth was for 71 years and 23 days.
The funeral service was held in the Methodist Episcopal church Thursday afternoon. Rev. R. D. Acheson was in charge. Interment was made in Troy cemetery. Those from out of town attending the funeral were Ezra and John Haviland, and Meriam Flemming of Ft. Dodge, Fred Oliver of Onawa, Iowa, John Daniels of Goodell, Iowa, Mrs. June Bainbridge of Portland, Oregon, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Church, Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. John House, Mrs. Elmer Haynen and son, and Mrs. Thomas Olson of Webster City, Frank Daniels of Kamrar, Jas. Floyd and daughter, Mrs. Henry Bowan, of Kennebec, S.D.
