Einer Charles Johnson, the son of Thorwald P. and Kristene Peterson Johnson, was born on January 15, 1899 at Latimer, Iowa. He grew up in Latimer and received his early education there and graduated from the Eagle Grove High School in the class of 1917. He served in the U.S. Army from 1917 to 1919 and was in France for several months. After receiving his discharge, he lived in Algona and was employed in a drug store and played the baritone in the Algona Municipal Band. Later, he moved to Fairmont, Minn., where he also worked in a drug store and played in the Municipal Band. He was united in marriage with Lucille Hinkley of Eagle Grove on Nov. 26, 1925. In 1922, he entered the pre-dental college at the University of Iowa and in 1928 received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Later in 1928, he opened his dental office in Eagle Grove, where he was a dentist until he retired in 1981. He trained several young dentists in his office and was later joined in his dental office by Dr. David Varland.

He was active in many dental associations and attended various training clinics to improve his knowledge and techniques. He was in business in Eagle Grove over 50 years and was active in community affairs, was a former member of the Eagle Grove Rotary Club and was a long time member of the United Methodist Church. He was a 50 year member and past master of the Bower Masonic Lodge in Eagle Grove; a member of Medina Council No. 26; Eagle Grove Chapter No. 123 Mount Lebanon Commandery No. 61; Consistory; Royal Arch Masons; Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine of Jerusalem in Eagle Grove. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge; the American Legion; Veterans of Foreign Wars; Iowa Dental Association; American Dental Association; and the Toy Train Collectors Association; and the Eagle Grove Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his wife; Lucille Johnson of Eagle Grove; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard C. and Claudia Johnson of Fort Dodge; Guy A. and Dorothy Johnson of West Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Alvena, and a brother, Raymond. Dr. Einer C. Johnson died Thursday evening, Nov. 28,1985 at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center in Fort Dodge at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 13 days.

Funeral services for Dr. E. C. Johnson. D.D.S., 86, of Eagle Grove, were held Tuesday, Dec. 3,1985 at 10:30 a.m. at the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church. Rev. Scott C. Hall, church pastor, and Dr. Clarence Tompkins of Fort Dodge officiated. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, with the presentation of the American flag at the graveside. Visitation and Masonic services were held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home on Monday.
