Warren Denton Reed was born on November 18,1923, at Newell, Iowa, the son of George and Mattie Griffel Reed. He was raised and educated in Clarion, Iowa. On June 24, 1945, he married Ruth Pauline Hanson in Goldfield, Iowa. They farmed near Clarion until 1967 when they moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa. She died on September 8, 1977. He married Mildred Asche Arne of Eagle Grove on November 10, 1979. He was employed by Erickson Manufacturing for over 30 years and retired in 1985.

Warren Denton Reed died Friday, February 26,1999, at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City, Iowa, at the age of 75. Survivors include his wife, Mildred; five sons, Don and wife, Jan; Dennis and wife, Denise, Eagle Grove, Kevin and wife, Julie, Goldfield, Iowa, Brian of Eagle Grove, Brent and wife, Diane, of Goldfield; three daughters, Melia Asche and husband, Steve, Brenda Miller and husband, Al, Eagle Grove, and Lori Kloberdanz and husband, Jerry, of Webster City, Iowa; four step-children, Terry Arne and wife, Vicky, of Eagle Grove, Marty Arne and wife, Tami, of Goldfield, Randy Arne and wife, Lanette of Pierre, S. D., Ronald Arne of Eagle Grove; 19 grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; one brother, Robert and wife, Marian of Payson, Ariz.; one sister, Evelyn Anderson of Clarion; two sisters-in-law, Connie Reed of Payson, Ariz., and Annabelle Reed of Lima, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elvin, and twin brother, Loren; and brother-in-law, Alvin Anderson.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 1,1999, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove with Reverend Eldon Jandebeur officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
