Ruth Pauline Hanson, the daughter of William and Ruth Eastman Hanson, was born May 24, 1927 at Fargo, N.D. She attended school at Goldfield graduating in 1945. On June 24, 1945 she was married to Warren Denton Reed of Clarion at Goldfield. Following their marriage they made their home on a farm near Clarion until 1967 when they moved to Eagle Grove.

Ruth died Thursday, September 8, at her home at the age of 50 years, 3 months and 14 days. Survivors include her husband, Warren; five sons: Donald Reed, Eagle Grove; Dennis Reed, Eagle Grove; Brian Reed, Eagle Grove; Kevin Reed, Goldfield; Brent Reed, at home; three daughters: Melia (Mrs. Steve) Asche, Eagle Grove; Brenda and Lori Reed, both at home, one brother, Robert Bjornson, Jr., Eagle Grove; four sisters: Audrey (Mrs. Wilfred) Kover, Olympia, Wash.; Eva (Mrs. Hascal) Caudell, Danielsville, Ga.; Barbara (Mrs. Norman) Gangestead, Goldfield; Donna (Mrs. Richard) Bordwell, Gilmore City; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by her father, William Hanson, her mother, Ruth Hanson Bjornson, and her stepfather, Robert Bjornson, Sr.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held Monday, September 12 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Donald Callen and Father Norman White officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
