Bertha Darlene Benson was born on December 19,1922 the daughter of Edward and Bertha Lute Benson at Emerson, Nebraska. She was educated in the Emerson School System and graduated from Emerson High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Weldon Simon Weaver on September 24, 1943 at Wayne, Nebraska. The couple began raising their family in Wayne, before moving to Webster City, Iowa in 1948. Bertha Weaver was employed as a florist in Webster City for 18 years prior to the couple moving to Eagle Grove. Both were employed at the Eagle Grove Greenhouse for 20 years. Her husband Weldon died on October 18,1987.

Bertha Darlene Weaver died at the Americana Nursing Home in Waterloo, Iowa on Friday, March 31, 1995 at the age of 72 years, 3 months, and 12 days. Survivors include her two sons, Darrel Stewart Weaver, and Victor Edward Weaver both of Webster City, Iowa; daughters, Carol Sue Bachman of Waterloo, Patricia Jean Weaver of Eagle Grove, Blanche Darlene Zeigler of Corwith, and Mary Margaret Snyder of Adel; nine grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Bressler of Hubbard, Nebraska, and Laurel Benson of Colorado Springs, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Steven, and two infants; as well as two brothers, Edward and Glen.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 4,1995 at 1 p.m. at the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with the Reverend Carlton Shaw officiating. She will be cremated and buried at a later date. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa. Willim Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
