September 17, 1878 --- December 26, 1962

Livermore - Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Smith, 84, were held Saturday, Dec. 29 in the Presbyterian church in Livermore. The Rev J Paul Stevens officiated and burial was in the Livermore Union Cemetery.

Rose Alice Murray, daughter of William and Elizabeth Murray was born Sept. 17, 1878, at Goodland, Ind. At an early age the family moved to a farm east of Livermore where she grew to womanhood. She passed away unexpectedly at her home, Dec. 26. On March 18, 1903, she was united in marriage with Walter M. Smith of Goldfield, Ia. Two children were born to this union: Ruth, Mrs. John Cameron of Storm Lake, and Hazel (Mrs. Alvin Christian) who preceded her in death, April 10, 1938. Preceding her in death were her husband, Walter M. Smith on Sept. 9, 1951, her parents; her daughter Hazel; her grandson Alvin Cameron; two brothers, Charles Murray and William B. Murray; and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Patton. She is survived by the daughter; three sisters: Miss Anna B. Murray and Mrs Jessamine Miller of Livermore, and Mrs Lillian Murphy of Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Mrs Smith was a lifelong member of the Livermore Presbyterian church and Woman's Society, a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a charter member of the Equality club of Livermore. A number of relatives and friends attended the funeral.
