September 1868 --- January 2, 1925

Word from Gilmore City Friday of last week brought the information that John Budd, a farmer whose home is near Pioneer, in Weaver township, and who has this winter been working in the roundhouse in Eagle Grove, dropped dead on the street there Friday just after dinner. He had not complained in any way and had been at his work during the forenoon, and was on his way back to work immediately after dinner when he was stricken on the street. Death came as a great surprise to his family and friends.

Mr. Budd had been a resident of Humboldt county for many years and had the universal respect of everyone who knew him. The funeral was held Monday of this week, conducted from Eagle Grove, and the remains were laid to rest in Union cemetery in Humboldt.
