John married Mary Riley on 5 April 1880 in St. Joseph, Kossuth, Iowa. They were the parents of James, John, and Julia.

John Morin, aged 90 years, passed away at the hospital in Cherokee following a lingering illness of many years resulting from an accident. Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Sacred Heart church in Livermore. His daughter Julia Morin Liebold of Charles City and a brother-in-law, M. D. Rielly of Algona were the only relatives present at the services.

One of the early pioneers near Hardy, Mr Morin came to Iowa as a young man having spent his childhood near Muscatine and Williamsburg. Fifty two years ago he was married to Miss Bertha Rielly at St Joe by Father Zigrang and the young couple started their home near Hardy. His wife and two sons preceded him in death and one daughter, Mrs. George Liebold, of Charles City survives him. He also has one brother, James, of Williamsburg.
