Funeral services for Richard "Scotty" Hoberer, 83, Livermore, were held Tuesday, March 15, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livermore, with burial in the Mount Calvary Cemetery there. He died Sunday, March 13, at the home of a friend, Ellen Armstrong, in Livermore. The Wilson Funeral Home of Livermore was in charge of the arrangements, with the Rev. Paul F. Eisele officiating. Military graveside rites were performed by the Otto-Field Post 415 of the American Legion in Livermore.

Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Crum of Winona, MN; two grandchildren; and three sisters, Laura Bennett and Gladys Gordon, both of Arlington, TX, and Bertha Wiesmann of Gainsville, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Zita; an infant daughter; and a brother, John Hoberer, Jr.

Richard "Scotty" Hoberer was born Dec. 17, 1910, in Lindsay, TX, where he was reared and educated. He worked in that area until age 17, when he moved to the St. Joe area, where he was employed by area farmers. He served in the South Pacific with the Seabees of the U.S. Navy, and in 1944 he married Zita Thill in St. Benedict. Following his discharge from the service, the couple made their home in Lindsay, TX, and later moved to Renwick, where they were engaged in farming. He later worked for the Kossuth County roads department. His wife died in 1951. He moved to Glabriath where he operated the Galbraith Store, until it closed in the 1960s. He retired from the Kossuth County road department in 1975 and in 1980 moved to Livermore.
