John Edwin WOOD

April 5, 1846 --- September 8, 1919

John Edwin Wood was born in Steuben county, New York April 5th 1846. His father died when he was he was ? years of age and the family moved to Kalamazoo county, Michigan. When he was nineteen years of age the family moved to Humboldt county Iowa, where he lived until his death, Sept. 8th, 1919.

He was married to Miss Hattie Nowlin in 1882. Six children were born to this union, Jerry Edwin, Mary Elizabeth, Winifred, Zora Levon, Violet Genevieve, and Donald William. He was converted at Hardy a number of years ago and united with the church. While living at Renwick he transferred his membership to the Baptist church of that place. Upon moving to Hardy transferred it to Hardy. His wife died, December 15, 1911.

He is survived by the five children and a sister Mrs. Emaline Stanley of Garden Grove, Iowa. A daughter Mary Elizabeth died in 1909. Mr. Wood always lived a consistent Christian life and was respected by all. Because of the serious illness of Violet and Donald, only the burial service at the grave was held. The burial service was conducted by Rev. Cunningham. Miss Anderson, who has been assisting in the care of the Wood children, returned to her home Saturday evening.
