Robert L. Kirchner, 76, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in the loving care of his family and Trinity Hospice. The service honoring Robert's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 27 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. J. Faulkner Martin officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation is Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.

Robert is survived by his wife Nancy; his daughter Angela (Terry) Frerkes, Manson; and his sisters, Karen Herr, Fort Dodge; and Sharon (Delbert) Egli, Manson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Leslie.

Robert Leroy Kirchner, the son of Melvin and Edress (Bruce) Kirchner, was born April 14, 1935 in Pocahontas County. He graduated from DMT Township Schools. On December 14, 1960, Robert was united in marriage to Nancy Lynn at the United Methodist Church in Vincent. Robert was employed with Fort Dodge Schools, Iowa Central Community College and then Arrowhead Education Agency, where he was the maintenance supervisor. Robert was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was active with Bible at Breakfast, was a Deacon and served on the Property and Finance Ministry Team. He enjoyed carpentry, doing repair work, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and visiting Branson.
