May 6, 1908 ---- June 16, 1984

CLEAR LAKE – Mrs. Elsie M. Rickard, 76, of 613 N. 7th Ave., Clear Lake, died Saturday (June 16, 1984) at her home. She was born May 6, 1908 in rural Wright County, the daughter of Klaas and Mary (Saatoff) Pals, and attended county school near Meservey. She married Charles Rickard in December 1930, and they lived their entire married life in Clear Lake. She was a charter member of the Evangelical Free Church in Clear Lake. She was an avid quilter and also kept active with gardening, sewing, crocheting and making items for church bazaars.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Evangelical Free Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kent Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation is after 2 this afternoon, with the family receiving friends from 7 – 9 tonight at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel in Clear Lake. The family suggests memorials be given to the Elsie M. Rickard Memorial Fund.

Mrs. Rickard is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Martin (Lois) Meier, Swaledale, and Jean Barnes, Clear Lake; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Enabnit, Clear Lake; Mrs. Bernard (Esther) Beek, Mason City, and Mrs. Gertrude Radloff, Clear Lake; two brothers, Clarence Pals, Forest City, and the Rev. Warren Pals, Germany; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
