Delmer G. "Doc" Welter, 56, died Tuesday, May 2, 2012 at his home in Renwick following a brief battle with cancer. A celebration of life will be held on his birthday, Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 4 to 6 PM at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Renwick. Delmer George "Doc" Welter was born May 15, 1955, in Fort Dodge, son of Frank and Laura (Schaler) Welter. He grew up near Renwick where he attended school. Doc farmed for many years, was a butcher for local lockers, and also worked as an electrician. He married Bonnie Wanken on June 17, 1983, in Renwick. He has two step-daughters, Julie (Dan) Gillen and their three daughters, and Paula Wanken, all from San Antonio, TX; a sister, Darlene (Jack) Ekwall of Bedford, IN; 11 brothers-in-law; and 10 sisters-in-law. Doc was a member of the Isaac Walton League and the Renwick Jaycees. He enjoyed shooting pool and working on challenging puzzles. Doc will be missed by his family and many friends.
