Emma Margaret Hutchinson was born December 15, 1911, in rural Clarion, daughter of Aeijelt and Emma (Klass) Meyer. She grew up on a farm near Lone Rock. Emma was married to Lloyd H. Hutchinson on June 19, 1934, at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft. Emma and Lloyd farmed and raised their 12 children north of Lone Rock. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, doing fancy work, and she was an avid sports fan especially enjoying watching baseball. Emma enjoyed visiting and loved being with her family. In later years, she wintered with several family members in Texas, enjoying shuffle board. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft being active in the C.D.of A. and the Altar Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and she belonged to many card clubs.

Emma M. Hutchinson died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Heritage Nursing Home in Bancroft at the age of 100. She had been a resident there since February, 2012. She is survived by 10 children, Robert (Sandy) Hutchinson of Lone Rock, Donald (Janece) Hutchinson of West Des Moines, Gordon (Lila) Hutchinson of Greenfield, Eugene (Kathy) Hutchinson of Queens Creek, AZ, Roger (Louise) Hutchinson of Troy, MO, Duane (Paula) Hutchinson of Garner, Dennis (Mary) Hutchinson of Charles City, Judy Moore of Woodbridge, VA, Kay (John) Forrest of Snellville, GA, and James (Shelly) Hutchinson of Fruit Heights, UT; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Hutchinson of Omaha, NE; sisters-in-law, Viola Marlow and Mary Hutchinson. She also has 30 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on December 24, 1979; a daughter Marjorie in 1943; a son, Kenny in 2011; 6 brothers, Ernest, Adolph, Aeijelt, Frank, Fred, and Ed Meyer; and 3 sisters, Lizzie Meyer, Helen Voigt, and Grace Meyer.
