Gunild Marie Sampson, daughter of Peter and Mattie Kluge Larson, was born April 13,1891, at Humboldt County, Iowa and educated at a country school in that area. On November 11, 1911, Gunild was united in marriage with John Sampson of Thor. They were married at Humboldt County, Iowa. They farmed near Thor until 1963, when they moved to Humboldt. John died October 14, 1963. Mrs. Sampson moved to Fort Dodge in 1965. Gunild died Monday, Nov. 13, 1978, while at work at Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge, at the age of 87. She was a member of the Thor Lutheran Church, ALCW. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, three sisters and six brothers. Survivors include: one daughter, Geraldine (Hamilton) Loerke of Des Moines; one sister, Lillian Rogness of Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren: Judy Lathrop, Geneyne Springer and David Hamilton, all of Waterloo; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 15,1:30 p.m. at the Thor Lutheran Church. Rev. Marlin Ingebretson officiated and burial was at Norway Township Cemetery, Thor.
