Glen Lomen Funeral Tuesday

Glen E. Lomen, 60, died Sunday morning at Bethesda General Hospital, Fort Dodge, where he had been a patient for about ten days. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Evangelical Lutheran Church with the pastor Rev. H. W. Schiller officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Lomen is survived by his wife and one son Eric who attends Luther College at Decorah.

Mr. Lomen was assistant head of the department of business administration at Iowa Central Community College, Eagle Grove, at the time he was taken ill. He was born in LeRoy, Minn, and was a graduate of the LeRoy High School. He attended Luther College for a year and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. He received his masters degree from the University of Southern California at Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. Lomen taught in Clarksville, Austin, Minn., Britt, la. and came to the Eagle Grove High School and Junior College systems 13 years ago. He had been in the teaching profession for 35 years, and was an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Eagle Grove Lions Club, Fort Dodge Camera Club, and his professional organizations. For many years he did Cub Scout and Boy Scout work and for 13 years served as a counselor at Boy's State.

Obituary

Glendon Eric Lomen was born January 15, 1911 in Leroy, Minn, to Gustave and Ella Ames Lomen. He was baptized into the triune faith on March 19,1911 at the Lutheran Church in Leroy, Minn. He renewed his baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation on May 17, 1925 in the same church where he was baptized, Pastor Olan Lin officiating. He died March 21, 1971 at Bethesda General Hospital, Fort Dodge, after reaching the age of 60 years, 2 months, and 6 days. Glen was educated in the public schools in LeRoy, Minn. He attended Luther College for one year. At the age of 19 he entered the U.S. Navy. After his military service he completed his college work at the University of Northern Iowa in 1935. He obtained a Master's Degree from the University of Southern California at Los Angeles.

He was married to Beatrice Blackman June 5, 1948 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Waterloo, Father Perry Gilfillan officiating. Glen taught at Clarksville, Iowa for 12 years; Austin, Minn. 4 years; Britt, la., 7 years; and 13 years in Eagle Grove High School and Jr. College. He was in the teaching profession for 35 years.

Glen was a member of the Lion's Club, Fort Dodge Camera Club, teaching organizations, and for many years he was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. For 13 years he served as a counselor at Boys' State. He became a member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church in November of 1959.

Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant brother. Those who mourn his departure are his wife, Beatrice and his son, Eric. Funeral services were held March 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church; Rev. H. W. Schiller officiating. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
