Mae Ethel Akins was born on May 31, 1908, to Eli C. and Ethel Dutcher Akins, in Aneta, N. D. She moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, in 1912, where she resided for over 70 years. In July 1993, she moved to the Madrid Home at Madrid, Iowa. Mae E. Heslop died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at the Madrid Home in Madrid, at the age of 91. She is survived by her son, Wilbur, Cambridge, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur; and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at 2 p.m., at the Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, with Reverend David Miller officiating. Burial was held in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
