Delia Fern Thebiay, the daughter of Frank and Mary Thomas Thompson, was born on Nov. 13, 1893 at Gowrie, Iowa. When she was a small child, her family moved to Rockford, Ill., where she grew up and graduated from the Rockford High School in the top ten percent of her class. For several years, she was a private secretary to an insurance executive in Rockford. After her father's death, Delia's mother came to Eagle Grove to live with her sister. Delia, while visiting in Eagle Grove, met Arthur Thebiay and they were later married and made their home on a farm west of Eagle Grove. Mr. Thebiay died in November 1959. She continued to live in the farm home a few years and then became a resident of the Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Rebekah Lodge, for many years was active in Wright County 4-H youth work. She was also a water-color artist, and loved music and played the piano, was the family historian and was a friend to everyone she met.

She is survived by a nephew Robert F. Thompson and his family of Seattle, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur Thebiay, a sister, Maude, and a brother, Elisha Thompson, who died in 1943. She died on Wednesday evening, May 2, 1984, at the Friendship Haven in Tompkins Memorial Health Center, at the age of 90 years, five months and 19 days.

Funeral services for Mrs. Delia Fern Thompson Thebiay, age 90, of Eagle Grove, were held on Friday, May 4,1984 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Scott C. Hall, church pastor, officiated and burial was in the family lot at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home on Tuesday evening.
