April 19, 1899 --- January 14, 1981

Frank Emory Tanner, Sr., the son of Emory and Mary De Lawyer Tanner, was born on April 19,1899 at Galena, Kansas. He died at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, Ia. on Wednesday morning, Jan. 14, 1981, at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 25 days. He moved to Eagle Grove with his family when he was three years old. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On June 20,1923 he was united in marriage with Katherine Wooster at Fort Dodge. To this union were born six children, Margaret, Dorothy, Frank Jr., James, Fred and Marna. The family lived in Eagle Grove where Mr. Tanner was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 48 years. He retired in 1966. He suffered a stroke and for the past three years, he had been a resident of the Rotary Ann Home and had been a patient at the hospital for the past week. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine; three daughters, Margaret and her husband, Mrs. Don Martin of Goldfield; Dorothy and her husband, Herman Winter of Boone; Mrs. Marna Juvenal of Des Moines and three sons; Frank H. and his wife Vernice Tanner of Eagle Grove; James and his wife Helen Tanner of Northwood; Fred and his wife, Lucile Tanner of Hartley; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Annie Erwin of Bruneau, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Schroeder.

Funeral services for Frank E. Tanner were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 1981 at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Marvin A. Berkeland officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock funeral home.
