26 April 1868 --- 2 January 1908

William John Watson, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. George Watson, was born on a farm in Jackson County, Iowa, April 26, 1868, being of a family of six sons and two daughters. He departed this life January 2, 1908 at the age of 39 years, 8 months and 7 days. At the age of 8 years hes left Jackson county with his parents and took up residence in Mankato, Minnesota. In the year 1874 they removed to a farm 1 mile east of Reinbeck, and two years later they moved into Reinbeck, where the family has been since. When 19 Will went west, residing two years at Crete Nebraska, where he learned his trade as a barber. Later he worked at Aspen, Colorado, Salt Lake City, Utah and Denver, Colorado. In the spring of 1893 he returned to Reinbeck and opened a Barber Shop which he operated until about a year ago.

October 16, 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Rodgers at Goldfield, Iowa, and to this union two daughters and one son were given. He leaves to mourn his loss his parents and five brothers, two sisters, his wife and three children.

The funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal church, Sunday afternoon, January 5th, conducted by the Rev. Chas A. Parkin, assisted by the Rev. Louis Tinning of Reinbeck, and the Rev T. A. Trimble of Dike, Iowa. The respect with which our brother was held by the people was evidenced by the large crowd which attended this service, who gave proof of their heartfelt sympathy for the bereft by their presence. The interment was made in the Reinbeck Cemetery.
