January 27, 1808 --- December 11, 1893

Died, at the home of his son, H. L. Pickering, near town, Monday morning at three o'clock, H. K. Pickering, aged 85 years, ten months and eighteen days, after an illness of only a week. He was taken with the "grippe" and pneumonia set in, which soon resulted in death. Mr. Pickering was born in Richmond, N H and came to Troy township in 1881 with his son and has made his home here ever since. The old gentleman has led an active life, full of vigor and usefulness for one of his age and his sudden passing away was a surprise to all his acquaintances. Since coming here he has been retiring in his habits, taking care of his invalid wife, who died a few years ago, and was highly esteemed by those who were fortunate to know him. His brother, A. K. Pickering, and family and his son are the immediate relatives living here. The funeral services are held this afternoon at the house of H. L. Pickering, and the burial will take place at Rose Hill cemetery.
